Despite the absence of two of the advertised DJs the 80s session at pier 1 Saturday night was a blast as music and niceness flowed till the week hours of the morning.
While we have not been able to confirm it yet, we heard some old boys got home just in time to take a shower and head for the church service at Hill View Baptist later in the day.
DJ Mikey from Renaissance, one of the island’s top party sets and DJ Chris of IRIE FM along with MoBay based Murdoch and ‘Fingers’ Montaque, the vibes were right from the start to the end.
How many people knew that Vinton Williams had good moves off the football field and he showed them off on the dance floor Saturday night/ Sunday morning?
While the crowd was in no way too big the turn out was encouraging and as we said before the vibes were nice.
One surprise visitor was former Rusea’s DCup star Kenneth ‘Black’ Gaynor who passed through.
He was not the only non CC man there as we had supporters from STETHS, Herbert Morrison, ‘Senior School’ and Harrison who came out to support the best school in the area.
And just to be sure, it was no bull session as the girls from MoBay High and Mt Alvernia High packed the place.
It was good to see even some of the parents of students from the 80s turn out, not sure if they were ‘chaperoning’ so wont call any names.
It was also great to see a number of the older old boys show up to many of the events and former PTA president Dr Horace Chang and his wife showed up at Pier 1 Saturday.
Yvonne Collimore the only female president of any CCOBA Chapter also showed up at Pier 1 Saturday. Yvonne a past student of MoBay High but a very staunch CC supporter.
