Are my birds having romantic interludes or trying?

Ok so i have this pair of yellow naped amazons and they have a monitor so i can keep an eye on their behavior. And ive never seen bird sex so i dont know. And i ve asked for a website that could provide me with a detailed description to no avail. anyway he looks to be tring to grab the back of her neck and i can see one leg look like its tring to do a step up on her not sucessfuly. Some times she makes this whinney sound other times she does that amazon growl. and tries to push him away. but there are times when shes like laying on her back some one please help me intrepret. and usuall these all happen in the same time frame. like during miltiple attempts. Are they attempts. And will she give in or will he always have to fight her? thanks. serious answers please

When birds mate, the male will mount the females back. He does not have a penis, they both have what is called a cloaca. As mating takes place both of the cloaca’s will come together. The male will dispense sperm into the female. The sperm can live up to a week inside of her and can fertilize a lot of eggs if necessary. Most people have never seen birdie sex, and would not know it if they saw it. The female does not lay on her back for sex. She may lean to one side, but they do not lay on the back during sex. She is giving him birdie sounds that may mean “no, not now”. Laying on her back could mean different things, such being betta to the alfa male. I have watch literally hundreds of birds mate, hundreds of times. I have to keep track of some of them for different reasons….all kinds of birds. Your female may have not been ready to mate…or may not want to mate at all. Just because they are male and female does not mean they are compatable as mates, and may not care to mate.
